Just a note to let you know that I would highly recommend your dogs and that I believe your passion for German Shepherds is met only by your commitment to your dogs. I want you to know how much respect I have for you and that when you take the time to discuss the dog related topics, that you are being listened to and not ever being taken for granted.
Not only do I show your dogs, but I’m also their groomer and handle them in their kennel when Darlene is away. I have to remind myself that not all dogs are as sensible as yours and that I take them for granted, but I’ve decided in this case its definately a positive thing.
For the past 7 or 8 years now I have had the pleasure of handling 4 of your German Shepherds, a couple to their Canadian Championships and ongoing with future dogs, all owned by Darlene Young.
I was seriously attacked about 15 years ago by a German Shepherd. It was the most horrific experience of my life. I have to tell you, I honestly have never second guessed the temperment of any of your dogs. Their soundness and intelligence make them a pleasure to work with in and out of the show ring.
The many times I’ve been to your kennel I’ve always admired your dogs. You always chit chat and walk us around to “see everyone”. I always enjoy the true voice of experience.
“Just to let you know how appreciated you are!”

Hi Anne Marie,
I just checked out your site and was thrilled to hear Rudy`s
dad Alert was doing so well.I first met you about 11 years
ago when I was looking into getting a loyal companion. My father
in law and I stopped in on you,I was very impressed with all
of your dogs but Alert stood out for me.About 3 years later
I had called you, unfortunately you had no litters at the
time.Luckily though Alert had bred with Kelsey here in Truro.
On your information I checked things out and the rest is history.
Rudy turned 8 this past March the 5th and is doing great.I
thought I would drop you a line and let you know what a fabulous
friend; loyal companion, protector and source of joy for me
,my wife and two children Rudy has been.I can`t imagine finding
a better dog in terms of temperament, work ethic and loyalty
than Rudy.
My wife`s family is located in New Minas and I would really
enjoy seeing Alert sometime I was down for a visit.I would
certainly call you first to arrange a acceptable time for
you.I will continue to tell people what a wonderful operation
you have with great dogs.Thank you for your time and for steering
me in the right direction all those years ago. Thanks Phil.

Hi Ann-Marie:
I would have to say having known you for many years and breeding
and training dogs myself for years, you are about the most
honest and trusting soul I have ever met in my many years
involved with German Shepherds. You don't breed for the money
such a lot of people do today. You breed for the betterment
of the breed which is what it is supposed to be all about.
Your dogs speak for themselves.
Regards
Dave

After going to local dog shows for years; and seeing what was being produced; I knew that when the timing was right, I would get my next shepherd from Ann-Marie at Grunfeld Shepherds. I have never regretted that decision. She is always there for support, teaching, guiding and mentoring. The pride and love that Ann-Marie has for her dogs is evident and well-deserved. They are wonderful representatives of the noble breed that Max von Stephanitz envisioned. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a Grunfeld Shepherd. Beauty AND Brains.

Hi Ann-Marie;
I would be only too glad to recommend you and
your dogs. My experience with you and your dogs has been without
doubt most satisfying. You have shown concern about who gets
your dogs, whether or not they will be properly cared for,
and made sure that if I wasn't happy with the animal you would
take the dog back or replace it with another. Your dogs are
bred to the highest standards in my opinion that one could
expect in the German Shepard breed. I speak from my own experience
and I would recommend you and your kennel to anyone.

David

I recommend Ann Marie and Gary at Grunfeld German Shepherds.
The dogs are great and temperment is A1. When you get a dog
from Grunfeld, you have lifetime support and become part of
the Grunfeld family. My relationship with Grunfeld goes back
8-10 years, and they are very knowledgable and always make
time to listen to my concerns. They are great friends.
Take Care

Finally I have something to send you! If you want to change
any of it feel free.
My search for a German Shepherd breeder led me to Grunfeld Shepherds. I had purchased a registered Sheltie 10 years before and I certainly had learned the hard way how important the breeding was and how important it was to have a breeder that would stand behind their breeding program. I knew what I was looking for and I found it at Grunfeld. I added a handsome, healthy and well tempered boy to my household. I am very proud of him! Over the years I have contacted Grunfeld for advice on raising my shepherd. We have participated in classes and play groups and have had one on one sessions. I am kept informed via email on issues that could affect my dog or events that we may be interested in. The best feeling for me is the peace of mind I have knowing that if a concern arises Grunfeld will be there for me and my boy.

If Grunfeld dealt in cars rather than GSDs they would likely be Maseratis, Ferraris and Porsches. All the dogs have great looks, are well built with lots of power and with proper handling (forgive me I'm still learning) have no trouble leading the pack.
When I started looking for another GSD in 2002, I stumbled upon the Grunfeld website quite by accident, via another website. What I saw interested me and after chatting with a local trainer/handler familiar with Ann-Marie and her kennel, I made contact and eventually went home with Grunfeld's Legend, call name "Cajun". At the end of January, 2005 Cajun returned to Grunfeld to meet and bring home his little sister "Pax".
Cajun and I have made a number of return trips to Grunfeld
since my initial visit in October, 2002 and each time I come
away feeling a little more knowledgeable and a lot more comfortable
in my relationship with my dog(s) and dogs in general. Cajun
comes away tired and at peace with the world, having had the
opportunity to spend hours working and roughhousing with his
canine friends and relatives. Ann-Marie loves the dogs and
its more than obvious they all love her, mine included. She
provides continued support and is always there to help with
training/behaviour questions or difficulties. Her approach
is gentle, but firm and my only suggestion to anyone buying
her dogs is to take the advice given and follow instructions.
Grunfeld dogs should be marketed as health (mental and physical)
and diet aids. You must eat well, and properly, to maintain
sufficient physical strength to keep up with the dogs. They'll
keep you busy enough there won't be time to worry or fret
about things that aren't likely important anyway.
The Grunfeld dogs I've become acquainted with are intelligent,
beautiful and an absolute pleasure to watch while doing something
they enjoy or while simply at rest. My male is quick to learn
and too much fun to work with and I fully expect my new female
will be no different.
Grunfeld continues to provide me an opportunity to develop interests and make new friends, human and canine, with similar interests.

Ann Marie, I had a real tough time with this one. I feel like
I have so much too say that I want others to know. Believe
it or not this is as condensed as I could make it! I will
not be insulted if you cut this down. I just can't seem to
do it myself!
When I get another Shepherd I will be turning to Ann Marie.
If someone told me I would be treated better anywhere else
I would say "that is impossible". Ann Marie is a
god in the world of dogs as far as I am concerned. She had
the most beautiful Shepherd's you will ever see with temperaments
that will melt your heart. Her dogs are special and I am will
be forever grateful that I found her and went the extra mile
to get a puppy from her. My Shelby is "my special"
or so I call her. I believe she is like her father, so kind,
amazed by kids and unbelievably loving. She is quietly protective,
full of life and love and lives to play and obey. I am sure
she gets joy from pleasing me! Often she came be downright
silly and makes me laugh out loud - Shelby is so full of personality!
She has the kindest eyes I have ever seen and her face is
always full of expression. Truly one of the best things to
happen to my life and if I had one wish it would be that she
could be with me forever! But it wasn't always wine and roses!
Anybody who has brought home a puppy in December is aware
of the challenges. Sleepless nights, tooth holes in everything,
she was a terror to our older dog, and this was all enhanced
by the lack of sleep. Ann-Marie was there for me through it
all! Whether it be an email or phone call she always took
the time for "Technical Support". Through detailed
emails she led me to raise a beautifully behaved and polite
dog rather than a little Tasmanian devil! All she asks is
that you trust her. Every problem from teething to potty training
was dealt with and the results were almost immediate. Everything
became easy thanks to Ann Marie. Thank You.

Hi Ann-Marie
It's been awhile since I contacted you.
Just wanted to give you an update as she goes into her second
year.
She is 24 inches tall and weighs about 70 pounds.
We are still preparing to enter the Novice class and have
been going to group classes, fun/correction/training matches.
She has great potential but is still a puppy in a lot of ways.
She is so people and dog friendly that she still has a difficult
time with the stand for examination and the stays. She greets
everyone like they were a long, lost friend. I don't doubt
that she will eventually be able to do the stand and stays,
it is just going to take a little longer.
Her speed and drive are still outstanding. She prefers to
work for a toy more than a food treat.
We did some ground work in Agility and will probably come
back to it when she matures and can work better off lead.
She has a lot of friends and admirer and certainly represents
your kennel name well.
She has been in good health except for some minor scratching
that is hard to pinpoint the cause. The vet recommended some
extra fatty acids for her coat.
Thanks for the information on the vaccination protocol. I
will bring it with me when we go to her annual checkup.
If I could describe Scout in a couple of words they would
be enthusiastic, outgoing, playful, alert, powerful, focused,
intense.
I've attached a picture that was taken this week at one of
the conservation areas.
Thanks again,
Bill
